I've been considering starting a blog for some time now. I feel like I'm updating my Facebook status on an hourly basis at times and I can only say so much in a status. I knew that by starting a blog I would be able to write more and keep everyone up-to-date on what's going on in our family. With a newborn in the house again I knew there would be a lot of updating to do and I just felt that this was the best way to do so.
So for my first post I'd like to get everyone caught up on what's currently going on with the Berrien family.
Bobby has been out of town in Augusta since June 12th for training and I've been on my own with the two kids for 5 days. It actually hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Savannah has actually been behaving herself and I wasn't as scared of sleeping alone in my house with just the kids as I thought I would be. I have been sleeping with the bedroom door open though because the baby monitor that we have to hear Savannah, stopped working. :( We have a split floor plan so Savannah is on the other side of the house and I'm the paranoid mama that still wants to hear her 3.5 year old's every sound at night.
After a recommendation from a co-worker I decided to sign Savannah up for gymnastics. Over the summer the price is pretty reasonable ($23 for 8 classes), so I signed her up. We had her first class on Wednesday night and I honestly didn't think I was going to get her out of there. She loved it! They have the preschool gym set up into about 14 different stations and the kids have a chance to experience different gymnastics techniques. They have hanging bars, parallel bars, a trampoline, a ladder, balances beams, and different mats for tumbling. Savannah was able to do all of the stations for the night, but she was scared of the parallel bars. She loved the hanging bars though and she was able to do both activities on them perfectly. I would have gotten pictures, but I have to spot her and I had Zachary wrapped up in the Moby so I'll have to try next week.
Zachary is 6 weeks old now and is starting to become Mr. Personality. He's such a handsome little man and is trying so hard to be bigger than he really is. He's rolled over twice this week from his belly to back and he's become quite the little talker. He loves to coo at his toys and to his mommy of course. He has such a cute little smile, but it's hard to catch on camera.
So I'll end tonight's post with a picture of Savannah before gymnastics and a picture of Zachary's first captured smile while he was being held by his great grandma Robison.

awww. I'm the same about being able to hear the kids! We had a monitor in Oscar's room until he was 4 :) Still now I get paranoid because I can't hear whats going on in there.
